Nom: Steensen, Niels

Médecin, anatomiste, géologue. Elève de Bartholin, collaborateur de Blasius. Nombreux travaux d'anatomie, découvre le canal excréteur de la parotide (1661), la composition du cerveau. Voyage à travers l'Europe, rencontre Malpighi en Italie. Converti au catholicisme, béatifié en 1988 par le pape Jean-Paul II.
