Anatomiste, embryologiste américain d’origine irlandaise (Cork), engagé en 1969 par la Carnegie Institution de Washington (Etats-Unis), le siège de la plus importante collection d’embryons humains au monde. Lecturer at the University Durham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, on the faculty at University Sheffield, England, as Professor at Wayne State University, Detroit, and chair of the Department of Anatomy at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. From 1974 to 1990, O’Rahilly was head of the Carnegie Laboratories of Embryology at the California Primate Research Center and the Departments of Human Anatomy and Neurology at the University of California in Davis
